I set a goal at the beginning of this year on Goodreads to read 30 books. I completed this back in August, finishing up the challenge with My Neighbor Totoro by Tsugiko Kubo. At the moment I have surpassed my goal as I’m currently on my 40th book!
I was very impressed that I managed to complete this as I set an unrealistic goal in 2016 to try and read 100 books in a year, I believe I only managed to read around 23 books then, so I’m glad I made a lower goal this year.
Here are the list of the 30 books I read in 2017 for my Goodreads Reading Challenge:
- Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer
- Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer
- Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer
- Relativity by Antonia Hayes
- Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles #3.5) by Marissa Meyer
- Sick Pleasure (Crazy Beautiful #3) by Jessica Serra Huizenga
- Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles #4.5) by Marissa Meyer
- Spider-Island by Dan Slott
- Taken At Night by Christa A. Ludlow
- Flirty Dancing (The Ladybirds #1) by Jenny McLachlan
- All The Lights We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
- Blood On The Tracks (Sydney Rose Parnell #1) by Barbara Nickless
- Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins
- The Girl With All The Gifts (The Hungry Plague #1) by M. R. Carey
- This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
- Wolf Brother (Chronicles of Darkness #1) by Michelle Paver
- Spirit Walker (Chronicles of Darkness #2) by Michelle Paver
- Soul Eater (Chronicles of Darkness #3) by Michelle Paver
- Outcast (Chronicles of Darkness #4) by Michelle Paver
- Oath Breaker (Chronicles of Darkness #5) by Michelle Paver
- Ghost Hunter (Chronicles of Darkness #6) by Michelle Paver
- Caraval (Caraval #1) by Stephanie Garber
- The Mazer Runner (Maze Runner #1) by James Dashner
- Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Cate Woods (iBooks)
- Pictures of Lily by Paige Toon (iBooks)
- The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner #2) by James Dashner
- Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch (iBooks)
- The Death Cure (Maze Runner #3) by James Dashner
- The Kill Order (Maze Runner #0.5) by James Dashner
- My Neighbor Totoro by Tsugiko Kubo
As I now know the rough amount of books I’m able to read in a year, I’ll definitely be bumping up my target for 2018.
How well is your Reading Challenge going this year? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you,
Claire ☺️
Congratulations on finishing your Goodreads challenge, this is so great 🙂 I always try to have a low goal each year, this way I’m always happy whenever I manage to reach it and surpass it, and not too overwhelmed – sad if I’m behind ahah 🙂

Thank you very much! I definitely learned from the mistake I made last year 😂 I thought by putting 100 books down as my first ever Goodreads goal, I would be able to achieve it. I was wrong and thought best to be more realistic this year and you’re right it does make you happy when you know you’ve reached a goal no matter how big or small it may be ☺️

It is really great – and this way, we can slowly raise our goal, without it being completely unrealistic and making us want to pull our hair out ahahah 🙂

I think that reading series helps a lot on your challenge. Harry Potter helped on mine for sure!! Haha

Maze Runner!! What did you think of that series? I bought the set in hardcover before I even read them, but thank goodness I ended up loving them. I’m so excited for the Death Cure movie- I just wrote a post about the movies I’m most excited for this year, and Death Cure is the first one! https://theactdiary.wordpress.com/2018/01/12/10-movies-im-excited-to-see-this-year/
