I Reached My Goal for the Goodreads Reading Challenge!

I set a goal at the beginning of this year on Goodreads to read 30 books. I completed this back in August, finishing up the challenge with My Neighbor Totoro by Tsugiko Kubo. At the moment I have surpassed my goal as I’m currently on my 40th book!

I was very impressed that I managed to complete this as I set an unrealistic goal in 2016 to try and read 100 books in a year, I believe I only managed to read around 23 books then, so I’m glad I made a lower goal this year.

Here are the list of the 30 books I read in 2017 for my Goodreads Reading Challenge:

  1. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) by Marissa Meyer
  2. Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer
  3. Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer
  4. Relativity by Antonia Hayes
  5. Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles #3.5) by Marissa Meyer
  6. Sick Pleasure (Crazy Beautiful #3) by Jessica Serra Huizenga
  7. Stars Above (The Lunar Chronicles #4.5) by Marissa Meyer
  8. Spider-Island by Dan Slott
  9. Taken At Night by Christa A. Ludlow
  10. Flirty Dancing (The Ladybirds #1) by Jenny McLachlan
  11. All The Lights We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
  12. Blood On The Tracks (Sydney Rose Parnell #1) by Barbara Nickless
  13. Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins
  14. The Girl With All The Gifts (The Hungry Plague #1) by M. R. Carey
  15. This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
  16. Wolf Brother (Chronicles of Darkness #1) by Michelle Paver
  17. Spirit Walker (Chronicles of Darkness #2) by Michelle Paver
  18. Soul Eater (Chronicles of Darkness #3) by Michelle Paver
  19. Outcast (Chronicles of Darkness #4) by Michelle Paver
  20. Oath Breaker (Chronicles of Darkness #5) by Michelle Paver
  21. Ghost Hunter (Chronicles of Darkness #6) by Michelle Paver
  22. Caraval (Caraval #1) by Stephanie Garber
  23. The Mazer Runner (Maze Runner #1) by James Dashner
  24. Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Cate Woods (iBooks)
  25. Pictures of Lily by Paige Toon (iBooks)
  26. The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner #2) by James Dashner
  27. Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch (iBooks)
  28. The Death Cure (Maze Runner #3) by James Dashner
  29. The Kill Order (Maze Runner #0.5) by James Dashner
  30. My Neighbor Totoro by Tsugiko Kubo

As I now know the rough amount of books I’m able to read in a year, I’ll definitely be bumping up my target for 2018.

How well is your Reading Challenge going this year? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you,

Claire ☺️

  1. Congratulations on finishing your Goodreads challenge, this is so great 🙂 I always try to have a low goal each year, this way I’m always happy whenever I manage to reach it and surpass it, and not too overwhelmed – sad if I’m behind ahah 🙂

    1. Thank you very much! I definitely learned from the mistake I made last year 😂 I thought by putting 100 books down as my first ever Goodreads goal, I would be able to achieve it. I was wrong and thought best to be more realistic this year and you’re right it does make you happy when you know you’ve reached a goal no matter how big or small it may be ☺️

      1. It is really great – and this way, we can slowly raise our goal, without it being completely unrealistic and making us want to pull our hair out ahahah 🙂

    1. Thank you! 40 is definitely the number I’ll be looking at to reach next year. Woah, 400+!? That’s insane! I shall take your advice on board, I would like to read more series books next year, how many books have you read so far this year?
