S.P.I.D.A.R. By Bryan Alaspa Book Review

Book Description (via Goodreads): The town of Whittier is isolated in Alaska and the people all live within towers once used by the military. The tourist season is over and winter is on the way. Then a body washes up on shore. A body that says it’s from the government facility across the sound at Esther Island. With a storm coming, the citizens of Whittier have to deal with this on their own. They put the body in the basement of the towers, but their doctor wants to find out what killed this man. Was it a disease? How dangerous is it? Then the horror begins.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have given this book four out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s taken me three quarters of the year to get round to reading this book and I’m glad I managed to finish 2018 off with it as it was very intriguing and I enjoyed it very much!

This book was definitely an unexpected four out of five star rating from me as *slap on the wrist* I judged this book with a hesitant should I read it should I not demeanour, just from seeing the front cover of the book. I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the artwork but I can imagine the setting to look something along those lines especially after reading this gruesome, detailed horror story.

I will have to say that this book is not for young readers, this contains mild, strong language and in parts there are gory details that some readers might not find appealing.

I really liked reading from all different points of view and learning about lots of characters in S.P.I.D.A.R. I find it quite difficult to keep track of which character is which when there are multiple POVs in a story, however Alaspa managed to keep his characters detailed and every character different so it was easy to follow. I was definitely on the edge of my seat throughout the whole time of reading this fast-paced book.

I would definitely recommend for fans of horror and suspense genres to pick up this book and give it a go.

I would like to pick up more books written by this author in the future!
