Book Description (via Goodreads):
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have given The Sea Was a Fair Master by. Calvin Demmer four out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve never read or heard of flash fiction collection before this book and am hoping that other similar styled flash fiction books are all as great as this one was! Demmer is an incredible author who really knows how to write terrifying horror stories.
I was really impressed by Demmer’s use of descriptive writing. There are 23 stories in this book and some are only two-three pages long. To be able to write a very short story with as much detail to give you an insight to set the scene and understand what’s going on, I found very clever.
This collection of stories were very compelling and nearly each story captivated me. Some of these stories definitely left me thinking about them for a little while longer. Although they’re short stories sometimes I had to leave time between each one to digest and understand it properly. A very refreshing style of book which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.
I would definitely recommend to pick this book up if you enjoy horror, sci-if and/or crime fiction. A further recommendation whilst reading this book is to read it in the dark as it gives you really spooky vibes and I honestly had my duvet cover almost covering my head! I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and hope to read more of Demmer’s material soon!
