After We Fell by Anna Todd Book Review

Book Description (via Goodreads): Just as Tessa makes the biggest decision of her life, everything changes. Revelations about first her family, and then Hardin’s, throw everything they knew before in doubt and makes their hard-won future together more difficult to claim.

Tessa’s life begins to come unglued. Nothing is what she thought it was. Not her friends. Not her family. The one person she should be able to rely on, Hardin, is furious when he discovers the massive secret she’s been keeping. And rather than being understanding, he turns to sabotage.

Tessa knows Hardin loves her and will do anything to protect her, but there’s a difference between loving someone and being able to have them in your life. This cycle of jealousy, unpredictable anger, and forgiveness is exhausting. She’s never felt so intensely for anyone, so exhilarated by someone’s kiss—but is the irrepressible heat between her and Hardin worth all the drama? Love used to be enough to hold them together. But if Tessa follows her heart now, will it be…the end?

I have given After We Fell by Anna Todd five out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

WHAT. A. CLIFFHANGER.

Anna Todd definitely knows how to leave an audience wanting more and boy am I trying really hard not to stop writing my book review and picking up the fourth book in the series After Ever Happy to find out what is going to happen next! An 834 page book would normally be very overwhelming for me, had it not been written by an author like Anna Todd who is able to captivate her audience by her addictive storylines. I couldn’t wait to dive back into the world of Hessa…

Once again we’re able to read from the multiple POVs of Tessa and Hardin which I absolutely looooved! In this book we learn more about both Tessa and Hardin’s backgrounds, which I really enjoyed reading about as it brought you a little closer into their lives and helped to feel more connected to the characters. There are a lot of frustrating moments within Tessa and Hardin’s relationship which had me rolling my eyes in After We Collided but I felt as though the growth between both characters was a lot stronger and so I was rooting for these two a lot more to work it out and grow from their mistakes until BAM! we’re smacked in the face with an eventful twist to throw us completely off-track and take two steps back to re-evaluate whether they should really be together.

After We Fell takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, from laughing to tearing up and most of all it left me shockingly speechless. This book is full of unexpected twists and turns!

Holy smokes the romance scenes were something else!! They were exciting, daring, passionate and so so so steamy – these scenes definitely kept me from putting the book down.

I was absolutely gobsmacked towards the end of the third instalment in the After series, as it neared the cliffhanger I could feel my jaw hanging lower and lower. I did have a sneaky suspicion that this particular scenario was going to happen due to my own assumptions made by some slight hints Todd gives throughout the first three books of this series, which I had picked up on but couldn’t be sure until it were to actually happen!

I am very intrigued to see what take they have on the movie adaptation for this book as there are a lot of storylines which haven’t been touched upon in the previous movies and I think it would be difficult to incorporate them into the movies now. I really, really enjoyed learning about Lillian and Riley and can only hope that they make it into the movie adaptation!

I have to say this is definitely my favourite book in the series so far, from the shocking dramas to the steamy romances I was completely hooked! I would recommend this book and/or series to anyone who enjoys steamy young/new adult romances with lots and lots of drama!
