After Ever Happy by Anna Todd Book Review

Book Description (via Goodreads): It’s never been all rainbows and sunshine for Tessa and Hardin, but each new challenge they’ve faced has only made their passionate bond stronger and stronger. But when a revelation about the past shakes Hardin’s impenetrable façade to the core – and then Tessa suffers a tragedy – will they stick together again, or be torn apart? As the shocking truth about each of their families emerge, it’s clear the two lover’s are not so different from each other. Tessa is no longer the sweet, simple, good girl she was when she met Hardin – any more than he is the cruel, moody boy she fell so hard for. Tessa understands all the troubling emotions brewing beneath Hardin’s exterior, and she knows she’s the only one who can calm him when he erupts. He needs her. But the more layers of his past come to light, the darker he grows, and the harder he pushes Tessa – and everyone else in his life – away. Tessa’s not sure if she really can save him – not without sacrificing herself. She refuses to go down without a fight. But who is she fighting for – Hardin or herself?

I have given After Ever Happy by Anna Todd five out of five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This series has my whole heart.

I have been broken into a million little pieces, put back together and then shattered all over again. Over and over during the entirety of this series my emotions have been riding around on a rollercoaster with one too many steep drops. The plot twists, oh my! Such an intense book, which I found difficult to put down. However, at the same time I knew that their story was drawing to a close and I didn’t want to finish it all too soon but, now that I have, I need to take a year off of reading just to reel all of my emotions back in again (like that’s ever going to happen ha!)

I thought After Ever Happy was a great way to wrap up the After series, it did not disappoint in the slightest (although I wish the few chapters at the end of the book were drawn out longer as I love details and I wanted all of the details! It’s difficult when a book starts to jump into the future because I I start longing for the details that happen between those months of years to know E V E R Y T H I N G they went through. Tears were shed, laughs were had and lots of gasps were heard.

I really love to hate Tessa and Hardin’s relationship, in the movie adaptation I absolutely adored them together and the same goes for the book but because you get more details and different plot lines, it made me steer in a different direction. I still wanted them to be together but I hate such a hatred towards both for some of their actions towards one another or the way they handled things. However, that’s when growth comes into play and this book showed so much growth from Tessa and Hardin’s characters that it really shone through. I mean I thought they had shown a lot of growth in After We Fell but woah, there was so much more in the final instalment of this series which made it so much better.

I feel as though this book tugged at my heart strings even more than the last three books as they touched on realistic issues which they had to work their way through and tried to overcome them together which I loved to see on paper, it made my heart warm and fuzzy just seeing how much maturity had sunken into their skin.

I still have so many questions left open to the air, unless my mind was clouded by the other events that were happening in the book, I don’t remember being told what happens to certain characters we meet and I would love to know!

Thank you to Anna Todd for creating such an addictive series of books, whose characters and story will stick by me for a very long time. Todd’s writing was so compelling and I thought the plot twists that occurred were exactly what the reader needed to keep invested and intrigued by how it was all going to come to an end.

I know that this will be a series of books that I will re-read every so often and so, I can’t wait to pick these back up in the future.

Hessa forever 💚
