February Wrap Up

I can’t believe March begins tomorrow, this month has flown by so quickly! Once again i’m amazed at how many books i’m able to read in a month. I’ve managed to read in the morning, during my lunch at work, at night and on my bus or train journeys. I’m so proud of myself for keeping this up, even if i’m behind on my challenge – i’m still making good progress.

This month I have read six books, these were:

  • Here’s Looking At You by Mhairi McFarlane
  • Crazy, Beautiful by Jessica Serra Huizenga
  • We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
  • It by Alexa Chung
  • Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
  • The Butterfly Summer by Harriet Evans

Both of the books I received from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review were my two favourite books of this month. Crazy, Beautiful by Jessica Serra Huizenga was such a great contemporary read and I can’t wait for the next book to be released later on this year! The Butterfly Summer by Harriet Evans (I’ve literally just this second finished it!) holds a lot of mystery, secrets and intrigue. I shall be reviewing The Butterfly Summer very shortly. There were two books which I was not a great fan of which were We Were Liars and Station Eleven. For some reason I just couldn’t connect with either story and I felt there was something lacking. Even when I start to read a book i’m clearly not enjoying, i’m unable to just put it down and walk away from it forever.

I. Have. To. Finish. It.

Reason being, I don’t like leaving something left unfinished.

I know I have a couple of events i’m attending in the beginning of March, but I am hoping to read more than six books this month!

    1. What was it about Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that made you not finish it? I’m the same 100 books is my goal too! I don’t really set myself a goal for the months, I just read, read and read 🙂

      1. I don’t know. I usually enjoy humorous books but to me it almost felt like Adams was trying too hard to be funny and it was taking away from the actual story. He kept adding these extra parts to be silly but it just didn’t work for me.

  3. I hear ya on having to finish books you don’t want to. I, personally, am not digging the Divergent series like I thought I would (I may be alone in this, but for reals, it’s just not happening for me), but I at least have to finish the book I’m currently on (book 2). I just can’t finish mid-book. Especially if I bought it. I don’t know why. It would drive me nuts to not finish it. And I didn’t buy the third one, so I don’t feel a true obligation to read that one. If I had already bought it, I would probably feel like I had to finish the series.

Ah I see, I have not read the Divergent series but there’s something about the movies that I enjoyed (although number three looks a bit strange, but I shall watch it and see how it is anyway) it’s definitely a book series I thought would be enjoyable. I feel exactly the same and that’s true if you haven’t bought the next one in the series then you don’t really have a true obligation to finish t completely. I wish you luck for reading through to the end 🙂

  4. I read Station Eleven as well last month. And I really liked it. I did find it slow though and it took me longer to finish than the other books I read.

  5. I try to squeeze even more reading into my day between the train and work, while I am walking, I listen to an audiobook as well! But the train is still designated reading time whether it be a physical copy or ebook. I loved some of Harriet Evans other books so I will have to check the new one out.
